How?

Working With WordPress will be divided into two 45-minute focus sessions
followed by 20 to 30 minutes of Q&A.

  • In Focus Session 1, Doug will cover the technical aspects of setting up, customizing, and managing your revamped WordPress installation.
  • In Focus Session 2, Olivier will go over growth strategies--everything from how to systematically create relevant content for your blog to growing a loyal and engaged community of readers.

"How will I learn?" is a question you should ask about any class, seminar, or workshop you attend. It matters because the way the information is delivered may match your learning style. Or not.

How do you learn best? Seeing it first-hand, listening to an engaging speaker? Working on it yourself? Once you know that, you'll know whether this workshop will work for you.

Yes, they'll be talking. Olivier and Doug are both very conversational people. Some may say that's an understatement. Of course, the sessions will be very informal because these two have a lot to cover. In their down-to-earth style, Olivier and Doug will each share with you the material outlined  here.

Yes, you'll see live examples. Doug uses a projector to show you the steps as he walks through real examples of WordPress setup and plug-in integration. Olivier has graphs, images, and examples to illustrate the scenarios that will help you define your goals and draw in your audience.

Yes, you can try it yourself. You can bring your own laptop and access the wireless internet connection at the Commerce Club. Sure, it might be risky working on your live blog while learning first-hand, but you can always practice on a new blog setup. Then, you'll be confident that you can do it again on the real thing.

Yes, you can ask questions. Hang around for the Q&A session to get specific questions answered. While Olivier and Doug may not be able to sit down and reconfigure your blog at the workshop, they'll make sure you have the knowledge you need to be self-sufficient in getting the problem fixed. When you leave this session, you'll know how to get your blog set up the way you want it to be, and why you want it that way.

Helpful disclaimer: Whenever you work on your website, be sure to back up your current version. Nothing is more frustrating than breaking something and not knowing how to get it back to the way it was.
